FAQ

1) How can I find the venue?

The venue can be easily found by putting “Muglwave” into Google Maps. Enter the parking lot by taking a right turn on the main road through the rocks.

2) When does the feature run?

The feature runs 24/7, almost 365 days a year.
Water levels are constant and it is never too high or too low to paddle.
Due to streetlights next to the feature, it can also be paddled during night-time. The feature is deep and carbon friendly.

  • Maintenance: The channel is turned off by the city twice a year (March 5th – 9th/October) for a few days for maintenance. The channel may also be turned off due to heavy rainfall and floods of the main river.
  • Austrian Championships: On April 20th, the Austrian Championships as well as selections are going to take place. The feature will be closed for international paddlers on that day.
  • Official Team Trainings: The feature may be closed during official team trainings (see event schedule)

3) How do I access and exit the feature?

The channel itself can be accessed through a boat ramp and exited from an eddy 5m downstream of the feature on river left, as well as from two emergency eddies on river right after the bridge.

IMPORTANT: Please do not exit the channel on river left but only on river right after the bridge. The area on river left is private property and can lead to charges.

4) Where can I park during training camps?

Please note that the area around Muglwave is closed for parking and camping starting on the 10th of August.

Paddlers can camp at a camping area about two minutes walking distance from the feature.
The camping area will provide toilet and shower facilities as well as access to fresh water. Additionally, electrical outlets will be available to charge phones, tablets or cameras.

Please note that the camping is not supervised. The organizers of the
Euros Graz 2024 are not liable for personal belongings. Boats can be stored in a supervised area at the competition feature.

The camping area/parking lot is private property. We are allowed to use it but please treat it with respect, so we can keep it that way.

The costs for the camping are 120€ for the full period of time (10th of August – 2nd of September) or 9€ per night per person. Every person who wishes to stay at the campsite needs to register under the following link.
The camping fee is to be paid in cash at the accreditation office when collecting your bib.

6) Public transport and parking in Graz

Public transport:

Public transport works pretty well in Graz. There are busses and trams as well as trains for the longer sections. We recommend using the Google Maps route planner to get around. It is also really good at telling you the public transport routes to your destination.

The official public transport app is called BusBahnBim and works really well also.

Busses: You can buy your ticket for the public transport in the front. Just ask the bus driver

Trams: You can buy your ticket at the ticket machine in the tram

Parking in Graz:

In the entire city centre of Graz, parking is subject to charges. The short-term parking zones are clearly marked by signs at all entrances and exits. There are no special traffic signs within these zones - but you can find blue and green floor markings on the ground.

Blue Zones: In this zone, which is the city center, parking is limited to a maximum of three hours. Parking charges apply on weekdays from 9 am to 8 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.

Green Zones: Parking charges: apply from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 8 pm. Maximum parking time: unlimited. Minimum payment: 1.00 Euros for 30 minutes, increasing in 10-cent increments. Price for full-day tickets: 11 Euros for 1 day

You can use the app EasyPark or the ticket machines on the streets to pay for parking.
